Dad's Back Home, And So Am I...

I finally got my father back home from the rehab center over the weekend. The past few days have been spent getting and installing some more handicapped fixtures for the bathroom, getting the new drug regimine down, getting the nurse, physical therapists and home aides set up, etc. And I get to not only give my Dad his daily medications, but I also get to apply my father's 'ointment' twice a day for the foreseeable future - trust me, it's worse than it sounds!

All in all though I'm thrilled to have him back. He has an incredible drive and he is far from needing permanent assisted living or skilled care. And I'm glad I'm in a position to help. Mom's thrilled, too. We figure he'll be up and running by the holidays - he's already talking about doing antiques again with me. There will be some tough times, of course, but everyone seems to be ready to deal with those. Out of the house doctors appointments commence next week.

I called the rescue for him on July 23rd. Since then I've spent about 4 hours each day either in transit or at the hospital or the nursing home. With him home now I'll be able to get alot more done.

When I last posted I was going to go to an advance screening of Serenity. I did and I loved it. I'll post my review of it soon. Problems started to arise the next day when some things popped up with my dad - not bad enough to keep him from coming home but things that will probably require more surgical procedures (scoping his bladder) that should make him more comfortable. Then my sister had to go into the hospital after a trip to LA. Then my mother fell. Then she fell again. Then my sister went to the hospital again thinking she was having a heart attack. Then I had to finish my Dad's room prior to him getting home. Then I had a wicked stomach bug. And so on, and so on... Bottom line was that the posting went by the wayside.

Lots to talk about (Iraq, War on Terror, Plame, Meirs, polls, hurricanes, oil prices, gas prices) - good stuff in my head, I hope to get it here soon!

Thanks for being patient!
