There Was Another Caucus This Weekend in Wyoming
Somewhat lost in the shuffle of candidates from Iowa to New Hampshire was the fact that Wyoming had its own GOP Caucus on Saturday. 12 Delegates were picked, with the promise of an additional 2 delegates to be selected at a later date. The results: Mitt Romney wins with 8 delegates, Fred Thompson comes in second with 3 delegates, and Duncan Hunter comes in third with 1 delegate. The Democrats' caucus isn't scheduled until March 8th. As the Wyoming GOP moved its caucus to January 5th in order to be a "player" in the nomination process, against the wishes of the national party, Wyoming's delegates to the national convention were cut in half from what they usually would have been.
Romney's victory is explained by the fact that he did campaign in the state (as did Thompson, and Hunter, briefly), and his son owns a ranch there.
